Hormone Makeover Checklist!

From my health food store’s newsletter, some helpful advice for the hormonally challenged among us (i.e. ME!) —

Regulate hormones by regulating blood sugar levels (the amount of sugar in your blood):

~~  Start the day with a breakfast that includes lean protein,  i.e. an egg white omelet, or scrambled eggs  (unless you’re lucky enough to have fresh farm eggs, I’ve heard it’s good to limit egg yolks)

~~ Eat small meals every 3 hours or so.

~~ Throughout the day, avoid starchy and sugary foods and beverages sweetened with sugar or artificial sweeteners.

~~  Eat lean protein and vegetables at every meal.

~~  For snacks, choose vegetables or high-fiber fruits (apples, pears and berries work well) and a small handful of nuts in place of starchy foods.

~~If you drink regular or diet soda, switch to herbal tea, organic sodas that are naturally low in calories and sugar, or water.

~~  Take a good quality multiviatamin and mineral supplement plus antioxidants to support healthy metabolism.

~~  Exercise regularly and pick activities that reduce your stress levels (reading, hobbies)

~~ Control stress in life.  Give yourself a break to relax, if just for a few minutes, each day. (I’d recommend reading the Bible, and praying about your concerns and activities)

There ya go.  Hope this helps someone.  One thing the list forgot is chocolate!  I LOVE it.  Don’t know if it helps our hormones, but it makes them easier to live with!
